Welcome

Hello, I'm Tom McNair. I Play Guitar, Saxophone and I sing and beatbox and I mix them all together using a loop pedal. I record the loops LIVE on stage and create the sound of a full band. Mainly beautiful Reggae and Blues but also upbeat Funk and Dance grooves. I'm Currently touring the UK promoting my
latest album "Song For Light Warriors" which has a strong "Acoustic Blues" influence with flavours of Reggae and the "singer songwriter" kind of genre. I worked hard to keep the feel of this album very organic and intimate.
I'm following my dream of being an independent musician, Writing and recording music inspired by my experiences. Also important to me is the lifestyle that I have achieved with this endeavour of music. I spend a lot of time with my wife and children and we live in an old library van. The humble abode means that we don't need loads of money to sustain ourselves and that is why I get to spend lots of time with my family and why I am so blooming happy so much of the time. The poignant part of this to me is that the money part is a TRAP that can require loads of work or commitment or selling your soul (doing it just for the money) just to stay in the trap. where as lower outgoings require less of these so I can WORK with my kids on their ABC's (and mine) and commit to doing things that I want to do and facilitating things that my family want to do and I don't sell my soul in the process.

i do it in the street!!!

-----WHY??-----

This website is not just here to promote my music. there is a Forum here for conversation about positively changing society or maybe creating a space in society where people who dream of living a simple life close to the land and each other can do so - opting out of the rat race and the strenuous taxation which is placed on our time and money.

We can learn how to create useful things and trade with each other cultivate land and grow food. Love real life. and live in communities together. To me, working at a job that just provides money to buy food and pay for a roof over your head is a distant cousin of real life. I would like to get closer to actually living.

become a member

Thanks from me too for your excellent set and hard work for the other musicians, but the highlight for me had to be the ear splitting cover of Cosmik Debris you accompanied Arthur on. How did he not win?

Hi Tom I emailed ages ago asking if you where free on the 18th of August to play at our wedding. I emailed you as soon as I saw you in Hereford city centre and played your music to my fiancé. We both fell in love with what you do and were wondering if you could reply about the possibility of playing. Thanks Ben :)

Hi Tom. I'm the guy who was mesmerised by your magical and spritual music last Wednesday when I was visiting Hereford. Just got back home to Yorkshire and have listened to your CD which is truly inspiring and beautiful. Thank you! Hope to hear you play and sing live again one day. Peace and Blessings.

Tom - wandering round Stroud on a busy and sunny Saturday on the 12th May we just had to sit and have coffee listening to you playing. So impressed. It was good to hear something so original and professional. As I said, get yourself to Bristol - you'll go down a bomb. Thunderbolt, Rose of Denmark, Tobacco Factory, Clifton ........ Recommending your CD to all and sundry.

Hello Tom, thanks for brightening up my day with your busking in Stroud, the sun was out, I was wandering around the market stalls with my partner and we 'stumbled' across yourself and were both mesmerised, you certainly added to our day. Your cd was duely enjoyed on our way home aswell. I'll keep a look out for any performances you might be doing next time I'm back in Gloucestershire. Best wishes mate.
